Monitoring an application can range from being easy, to being simple. Personally, I like to keep things simple, and use an uptime monitor which will let me know in the event a website is down.
However, there are many different uptime monitoring tools out there. Fortunately, I've managed to find one that not only suits nearly all of my needs, but also happens to be open source, and self hostable.
